Frequently Asked Questions

When is the album coming out in the USA?
It's due for release on September 18th on SpinArt records. A tour will follow in October, from 6th - 24th.

Why aren't you going to the south of the USA (Texas, Florida, Atlanta etc.)
We always want to play as much as we can, and going to those places is always great. However, mainly for financial reasons, it was a choice between the top and bottom of the US. It was decided that we do the 'top' as in the south you drive more than you play, paying crew as you do, and that would lose us more money therefore jeopardizing future touring budgeting. So, we are trying to organize something for February. We can only apologise to those fans who are missing out, but believe me, we are sad too.

How do I get the new proposed 'live album'?
Write to bishq@hotmail.com for all the details.

What's the latest on the 'I love Bis' compilation album?
We are currently awaiting the go-ahead from Grand Royal/Capitol records who own some of the songs. Once this happens, it will hopefully come out in time for the tour. If not, it will still happen at some point, but only mail order. An ad for the album will be posted as soon as it's ready.

How do I get on your mailing list?
You can join by entering your email address in the form on the front of our website.

When is the album coming out in Europe?
At present there is no release date, although it may end up being January as it's taking longer to get the record deal finalized.

Is it true you're doing something with Chemikal Underground?
Not the album, but an e.p with 4 tracks for the Chemikal Underground series of e.ps that are limited to 1000 copies. This is released only in the UK. This is scheduled for October.

Why are Bis no longer on Wiiija?
The main guy who ran and owned Wiiija, Gary Walker left last year. Without his hard work and support it was thought that the album would suffer as a result.

Why are Bis no longer on Grand Royal?
When it was time to renew the contract Grand Royal split with parent company Capitol Records. During this change to a new major label parent company it was decided that they didn't want to keep Bis. In all honesty this was a good outcome as there had been many problems between Grand Royal and Capitol and the bands were stuck in the middle.

Why are you using a drummer live now?
This was something that Bis wanted to try out and did so at their London gig with Arab Strap. It was such a success that they want to make it a regular thing. The sound is 10 times as good as it's a drummer IN ADDITION to the original set-up with a sampler and a sequencer.

Who is this drummer?
He is long term friend Graham Christie, the older brother of Ally, the long term roadie.

Did Manda put out a record on Damaged Goods?
Yes, in a band called 'the Kitchen' with ex-Discount guitarist. The CD had 3 songs, and the 7" had two. Go to www.damagedgoods.co.uk for mail order.

Did Manda present a radio show?
Yes, with a co-host called Douglas Anderson for BBC Scotland. The show was called 'Air' and was on Monday nights from 7-9. She did this for 8 months and hopes to do something along those lines again. She stopped doing it when Radio Scotland decided to change it's target audience from 15-25 year olds to 35-55 year olds and thought that an older presenter would be more appropriate.

Why is some of your merchandise so cheap?
The 'Sale Merch' was a boxful of t-shirts that turned up on our doorstep unexpectedly. In order to make new t-shirts we thought we would sell the old design off cheap.

Why aren't all of your gigs all-ages ones?
The effort is always made to play to all-ages crowds, and these are generally the best ones. However, mainly in the USA there are very strict laws in cities and it's sadly unavoidable. There are sometimes no venues the appropriate size that are all-ages to play in, and if you just do in-stores you don't get paid.

Is it true that Manda got married?
Yes, April 21st 2001 in Glasgow.

Are John and Steven married?
No.

What happened to bisnation radio?
Sadly, we had to withdraw the service.
