MANDA RIN ANNOUNCES FIRST SOLO PROJECT
Fourteen years after sensational cult punk trio Bis hit the nation with the massive, guitar fuelled, mouthy single ‘Kandy Pop’ lead singer and co-founder Manda Rin is hitting out on her own with her debut solo single ‘DNA’!
Fast forward to 2008 and a wiser, self assured Manda Rin is stepping forward into the spotlight to make her solo mark with an exceptional, cutting edge sound.
‘DNA’ is an explosive track packed full of phat, disco-punk basslines and edgy, up tempo poppy guitar rifts. Team this with Manda Rin’s familiar attitudinal voice and staccato style and you have one seriously dynamic, energy fuelled track. This is a colourful, impressive tune set to position Manda Rin in a firm class of her own in the Scottish music scene.
Her debut album, My DNA will follow on the 8th September. The tracklisting is as follows: ‘DNA‘, ‘Typeface‘, ‘Bad Things Happen to Bad People‘, ‘Guilty Pleasure‘, ‘Do The Static‘, ‘The Word Out‘, ‘Break-up/Breakdown‘, ‘Love to Hate You‘, ‘No Language‘, ‘Less Than Zero‘, ‘Blackbook‘ and ‘Bruises‘.
Manda Rin accredits some of her influences to the likes of Gossip, CSS, New Young Pony Club, To My Boy, Blood Red Shoes and Late Of The Pier. However in the words of Scottish music supremo Jim Gellatly (XFM) “I think it’s fair to say that it’s more likely the other way round considering Manda Rin has been producing this genre of music for over a decade now!”
‘DNA’ will hit the digital world first on August 18th before being released at all good music shops on 7” vinyl on August 25th followed by the release of the full album ‘My DNA’ on the 8th September.

Editors Notes
The sensational, idiosyncratic Bis took audiences by storm when they were the first unsigned band to perform on Top of the Pops in 1995 with their hit song ‘Kandy Pop’. Audiences were immediately captivated by the unique and commanding energy of tiny front woman Manda Rin (Amanda MacKinnon). The trio which also consisted of school friends Steven Clark (Sci-fi Steven) and John Clark (John Disco) toured extensively enjoying considerable success in the U.S and in Japan where they sold almost 100,000 copies of their debut album in its first week of release.
After the band split in 2003, Manda Rin embarked on a whirlwind of eclectic and diverse projects with amongst others, Kitchen and Data Panik (which also featured her former Bis bandmates). More recently she collaborated with Fife electro outfit Juno, further showcasing her inventive and dynamic style.
